Harlan Levine, MD is the Chief Executive Officer of the City of Hope Medical Foundation and has more than 15 years of experience providing clinical health management, consultative services and program implementation support to businesses and organizations of all sizes, across a broad range of industries. A former executive vice president at WellPoint Inc., overseeing Comprehensive Health Solutions, Levine will lead the medical foundation in its mission to care for, and provide services to, City of Hope patients. Prior to Wellpoint, Dr. Levine worked for Towers Watson’s Health Management business as national practice leader. Dr. Levine also worked for several national health care organizations in a variety of leadership roles. He served as CEO of a disease management and health care technology subsidiary for a world-leading pharmaceutical company, and chief medical officer at a leading consumer health services company delivering wellness, care management, consumer decision support, Centers of Excellence and consumer portal services and products. Dr. Levine has been an advisor to health policy groups such as the nonpartisan, Washington D.C.-based Hope Street Group, supporting its project dedicated to reinventing primary care. In addition, he served for six years on the Board of Directors of the Disease Management Association of America and co-chaired the American Health Insurance Plan’s Cardio-Metabolic Risk Reduction Sub-Committee. In September, 2008, Managed Healthcare Executive named Dr. Levine one of the nation’s top 25 Leaders in Disease Management. Dr. Levine earned holds a BS in biology from Harvard College, an MD from the University of California, San Francisco, and is board certified in Internal Medicine.
