Deana Baptiste currently serves as Epidemiologist and the Director of Cancer Screening Guideline Development in the Department of Cancer Prevention and Early Detection at the American Cancer Society (ACS). The ACS is a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem.
With almost 20 years working in the public health sector, her current role is that of a methodologist for the development of ACS’s cancer screening guidelines. She also supports the ACS cancer screening and prevention and control initiatives and serves as an adjunct professor at the Morehouse School of Medicine, Public Health Program.
Before joining the ACS in 2013, she was a member of the U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps and served as an epidemiologist at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, National Center for Environmental Health, and the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry. Her previous work included designing and conducting studies on cancer and environmental exposures, environmental hazard assessments, and cancer cluster investigations.
Baptiste earned her BS from the University of Texas, MPH from the George Washington University School of Public Health, and a PhD in epidemiology from the University of Miami.
