Dana Bright, LSW, MSW is currently the Manager, Medical Home Initiatives at the American Academy of Pediatrics in Elk Grove Village, IL. In this role, she supervises medical home initiatives including pediatric residency and other educational activities, medical home chapter champions and the interface between primary and subspecialty care. She also provides technical assistance to pediatricians, other health professionals and key stakeholders on the integration of medical home and quality improvement concepts in practice in order to improve access to health care services for all children and youth.
Previously, Ms. Bright served as the Manager of Health Promotion for Health and Aging at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL. In this role, she oversaw health promotion and disease prevention program development and implementation for older adults and caregivers across the medical center and in the community. While a Master Trainer for multiple evidence-based health promotion interventions for older adults, Ms. Bright was responsible for the dissemination and evaluation of evidence-based self-management programming and thus developed expertise in the application of these programs in community practice and factors that facilitate program dissemination.
Ms. Bright graduated summa cum laude with a Master of Social Work degree from the University of Michigan in 2004 with a Certificate in Aging and concentrations in Aging and Community Organization. She also holds a Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Xavier University. Prior to working at Rush, Ms. Bright served as Project Manager for the Blueprint for Aging in Ann Arbor, Michigan, a partnership to improve long-term care and supportive services in Washtenaw County funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. Among other community service activities, Ms. Bright provided five years of service on the Executive Board of the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network of Chicago.
