Ms. Ashlee Harris is a Community Health Worker at the Penn Center for Community Health Workers. Throughout her 4 years at the Center, she has provided social and emotional support to many disadvantaged patients in the Philadelphia region, including individuals with Sickle Cell Disease. Ms. Harris advocated for a patient to develop and facilitate her own Sickle Cell support group. This group educates, supports, and empowers patients and their families.
She is a member of the CHW Advisory Council for the Board of Pennsylvania and serves as a Subject Matter Expert. In her role as a Subject Matter Expert, she assists with developing the requirements for the statewide certification for CHW’s in Pennsylvania. As a member of the CHW Advisory Council, she participates in ethics processes, helps answer member inquiries, provides secondary support, and corresponds with the PCB Board of Directors.
Ms. Harris is the creator and mentor for CHW Mentorship Program for Penn Medicine Executives. In this role the ultimate goal is to encourage senior health system leaders to work with the CHW mentors and create tangible systems-level interventions that mitigate the effects of structural racism and promote the delivery of just and equitable care.
Ms. Harris has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Human Resource Management. She has a love for people, and an innate passion to help and serve her community.
