Health care reform generally involves three goals: better access to care, cost reduction, and improving the quality and outcomes of health care. Though attempts by policymakers and payers to change the system are often met with suspicion, surveys find Americans have high levels of trust in doctors and clinicians. Even though they are trusted and at the front lines, many clinicians still feel unprepared and uneducated about health economics, delivery systems, and reform.
The National Committee for Quality Assurance—architect of America’s most popular patient-centered medical home model—has extended the medical home concept to specialists and released its latest program: NCQA Patient-Centered Specialty Practice (PCSP) Recognition.
With an overwhelmingresponse to NCQA’s Patient-Centered Medical Home Recognition (PCMH) program, many are eager to learn more about the requirements and apply its criteria to improve quality. This advanced seminar examines the PCMH 2011 Standards further.
