In February 2007 the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP), the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP), the American College of Physicians (ACP), and the American Osteopathic Association (AOA) published their landmark Joint Principles on the Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH). This approach promises comprehensive primary care for children, youth, and adults in a partnership between individual patients and a team of health care professionals at the practice level. The team coordinates care across all elements of the health care system.

In addition, a panel of prominent experts will discuss how new care models such as Project ECHO can help meet the growing need for mental health and substance abuse treatment that is integrated and coordinated at the primary care level.
