The Clinical Health Coach training online program is designed to improve patient health outcomes by: 1) actively engaging patients in self-management support and inspiring greater patient accountability; 2) building capacity for effective use of population health processes in all patient-centered settings; and, 3) aligning evidence based care management strategies with patient-centered resources. This self-paced online program involves 27 hours of tutorials including:
The program builds knowledge and skills for transforming conversations between healthcare professionals and patients for better self-management and transforming care processes by deploying population health strategies. Approximately 65% of the program emphasizes development of a skilled behavior change specialist while the other 35% targets skill-building as a care management facilitator. The program leads to a Certificate of Competency in Clinical Health Coaching upon successful completion of the coaching performance assessment.

This program was evaluated by a panel of physicians and other healthcare professionals prior to launch for accuracy, evidence, quality and value. In addition, the Interstate Postgraduate Medical Association (IPMA) evaluated the entire program and authorized American Medical Association (AMA) Physician’s Recognition Award (PRA) Category I credits for most health care professionals who successfully complete the program. Each student that enrolls in the program evaluates the program as well.
