September Conversation: Patient and Family Advisors in Training/Faculty Roles

Thursday Sep 19, 2019 12:00 pm to 01:00 pm EDT
United States

Patient and Family Advisors can be trusted partners in training/educating health care professionals and staff about PFCC and key aspects of care from the patient perspective. While this role is not for everyone, advisors who participate in new hire orientation or as patient or family members in simulation can add a valuable perspective.

Do you serve as a PFA in a training role? How did your organization support and prepare you for this role? If you are involved in developing training programs at your organization, how have you utilized PFAs to enhance the training experience? What have been the benefits and challenges of incorporating PFAs into training programs? Bring your ideas, questions, and strategies to our conversation.

These informal conversations are participatory in nature, building on the experience and strengths of those who join the call. We do not do a presentation but rather let the discussion be guided by what the participants want to learn more about through the sharing of our collective experiences. Come join the conversation to learn from others and to share your successes and challenges. Mary Minniti, Senior Policy and Program Specialist, and Pam Dardess, Vice-President, Strategic Initiatives and Operations, will facilitate this discussion.
