As the coronavirus pandemic and its economic repercussions threaten our primary care system, leaders recognize now more than ever that the country needs access to quality primary care for all in order to re-start society and better navigate future public health crises. But how do we achieve this? PCC’s president and CEO, Ann Greiner, moderates a discussion among panelists with diverse political perspectives on the best approaches to achieving a universally accessible primary care system. Grace-Marie Turner is president of the Galen Institute, a public-policy research organization she founded in 1995 to promote an informed debate over ideas to transfer power over health care decisions to doctors and patients. She has served on several federal commissions, including the Long-Term Care Commission, the National Advisory Board for the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality and the Medicaid Commission. She testifies regularly before Congress, has been published in hundreds of newspapers, including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, and USA Today. Michael Fine, MD

Chief Health Strategist, Cities of Central Falls and Pawtucket, Rhode Island
Michael Fine, MD is currently the Chief Health Strategist for the Cities of Central Falls and Pawtucket, Rhode Island, and Medical Director of Beat COVID-19, the two-city strategy to stop the spread of COVID-19 in one of the most COVID-19-endemic areas in the U.S. He also holds the title of Health Policy Advisor to Mayor James Diossa of Central Falls. In addition to those roles, Dr. Fine is the driving force behind the Central Falls Neighborhood Health Station and provides all health services, including primary care and population health, for the overwhelming majority of the municipality’s residents. read more

Rachel Prusak

Representative, Oregon State Legislature
Rep. Prusak received her bachelor of science in nursing from Northeastern University in Boston, where she was born and raised, and her master's in nursing from the birthplace of nurse midwifery in our country, Frontier Nursing Service. Rep. Prusak has over 20 years invested in the world of nursing across a multitude of settings including the last 12 years as a family nurse practitioner. She currently works for Housecall Providers, where she provides primary care, palliative care and hospice care to the homebound and chronically ill members of her community. Prior to this, she was an ambassador for the National Health Service Corps, where she was dedicated to serving families in rural areas of the country with limited access to care. read more
