P.L. “Pete” Martinez is senior vice president and chief technology & innovations officer for The Quantum Group of Companies.  A former IBM vice president of Global Business Services, he was also the senior location executive for IBM South Florida.
An executive with 34 years of international business in multiple industries, Martinez has led multiple sizable and successful entrepreneurial businesses. He also specializes in consulting to major international enterprises and executives in the areas of business strategy, governance and technology. He was responsible for the consulting team that drove IBM’s e‐business Strategy and Transformation. He has worked with banks, manufacturers, governments, bio techs, hospitals, academia, media firms, and retailers in defining new strategies for cost containment, growth and transformation of processes and market channels.
Martinez holds more than 30 patents and technical publications in the areas of health care, computer architecture, robotics, optical disks and display technology. He is a frequent key note at international conferences and has been featured by the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, ABC News, The Economist, Univision and CNN. He is chairman of the Florida Research Consortium Board of Directors, chair of the University of Miami School of Engineering Advisory Board, chair of the Florida International University School of Computer Science Advisory Board, board member of Florida Atlantic University’s Engineering Advisory Board and is a visiting professor at Florida International University. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Caridad Center and the Palm Healthcare Foundation. He holds a bachelors of science degree in electrical engineering from the University of Miami.
