Carmelita Escalante, MD, FACP is a Professor and the Department Chair of the General Internal Medicine Department at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. Dr. Escalante's major accomplishments include developing the first Cancer-Related Fatigue Clinic in the nation, building a number of clinical programs, and developing a research program in general internal medicine with her department leading all others in the Division of Internal Medicine with regards to funding. Dr. Escalante has also chaired several committees including the Executive Committee of the Medical Staff, the Credentials Committee of the Medical Staff, the Credentials Committee of the Physicians Network, the Medical Practice Committee, and the Clinical Faculty Review Committee. Dr. Escalante has received numerous awards throughout her career and was included on the list of "Best Physicians" by the US News and World in 2011. Dr. Escalante's goals for her career include mentoring faculty in leadership building and promoting collaborative and collegial teams in the workplace. Dr Escalante received her MD from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans and performed her residency at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston.
