Dr. Zerzan-Thul is the Chief Medical Officer of the Washington State Health Care Authority, which purchases health care on behalf of the State’s Medicaid beneficiaries as well as public employees. Dr. Zerzan-Thul also serves the newest Executive Forum co-chair for the Health Care Payment and Learning Action Network, known as “the LAN”. Dr. Zerzan-Thul has been actively involved with the LAN, serving on the Care Transformation Executive Forum and speaking at several annual LAN Summits as an expert on value-based payment model design and implementation. Additionally, Dr. Zerzan-Thul has focused on value-based payment models, the state’s Medicaid Transformation Project, health equity, collaboration with stakeholders, and innovative use of data. Prior to serving as CMO for Washington State, Dr. Zerzan-Thul served in the same capacity in Colorado, where she designed and implemented benefits programs, specifically in Medicaid, and was instrumental in implementing the Affordable Care Act (ACA).
