The Mayo Clinic Post Graduate Year 1 (PGY1) Pharmacy Practice Residency in Primary Care program is designed to provide students with high-quality didactic and clinical experiences in order to create well-rounded, fully competent clinical pharmacists who are able to serve a multitude of ambulatory care patient populations. This residency provides opportunities for general training in many areas of ambulatory care and during each rotation, residents work closely with their preceptor, highly qualified pharmacists, physicians and other allied health care professionals.

Established in 2011, this program is pending accreditation from the America Society of Health-System Pharmacists. The residency program is continuously evaluated for improvement opportunities to ensure graduates make a seamless transition into primary care or ambulatory practice settings. One candidate a year is selected on a competitive basis to participate in this residency program.
