Update from Cabinet Leadership
Message from our Director of Programs, Tara Hacker. Welcome to the December update from the Employer & Purchaser Engagement Center! As the new Center Lead I will be in charge of coordinating activities across our five Stakeholder Centers. I want to thank each of you for actively participating and continuing to support the advancement of primary care and the medical home model. I look forward to working with you all as this Center's work progresses.
Center Goal: Among employers, purchasers and payers, increase access to the patient-centered medical home (PCMH), built on a strong primary care foundation.
Center leadership held its November conference call to further refine a work plan. Click here to review detailed minutes from the call.
During this call, cabinet members discussed:
Previous Phytel webinar featuring the PCPCC on the 2012 benefits of implementing the medial home report; and upcoming webinar on electronic tools to incentivize medical home care between employers, clinicians, and patients.
PCPCC Task Force working with outside researchers to manage study and publication on wellness and prevention services among primary care practices.
Three "Big Ideas" under PCPCC Board Review and their potential benefits and challenges: (1) employer/provider key stakeholder meeting, (2) medical home mapper, and (3) public engagement and outreach.

Health plans gear up to sell directly to consumers Kaiser Health News, 12/3. Kaiser examines insurers' efforts to accommodate the pending influx of new customers in 2014 and their impact on redesigning health plan business models.
