Indiana has no current legislation involving the patient-centered medical home (PCMH), but is experimenting with PCMH care delivery components through grant-funded pilot programs and private payer initiatives. In September of 2013, CMS granted a one-year extension of the Healthy Indiana plan 1115 Medicaid waiver, which allowed the state to continue providing Medicaid coverage for many low-income residents. In January of 2015, Governor Mike Pence and HHS reached an agreement on the state's Medicaid expansion proposal, which will make as many as 350,000 Hoosiers eligible for coverage.
