PCPCC Annual Fall Conference Opens Today!

WASHINGTON – The Patient-Centered Primary Care Collaborative (PCPCC) kicks off its three day Annual Fall Conference today at the Grand Hyatt in Washington, D.C. The conference theme, “Investing in Primary Care: Patients, Professionals & Payment” underscores the PCPCC’s priorities as it serves as the unifying voice for primary care and the patient-centered medical home in an effort to improve healthcare delivery and payment systems to support it.

“The upcoming year presents great opportunities for primary care — with payment reform and practice transformation at the top of mind for practices, policymakers, and patients,” said Marci Nielsen, PhD, MPH, CEO of the PCPCC. “Our conference will convene hundreds of the most knowledgeable and influential stakeholders in primary care to discuss the priorities of patients, professionals, and payment.

Nearly 100 health care experts will speak at the conference, and each day will commence with a keynote address. Keynote speakers include:

• Juliette Schlucter, a family caregiver and the Director of the Center for Child and Family Experience at the NYU Langone Medical Center;
• Patrick Conway, MD, MSc, the Acting principal Deputy Administrator, Deputy Administrator for Innovation and Quality, and Chief Medical Officer for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services; and
• Rushika Fernandopulle, MD, MPP, the co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of Iora Health.

Their remarks will touch on issues ranging from importance of patient and family engagement in care delivery reform, the role of the federal government in driving system transformation, and the need for greater investment in primary care.

The conference will also highlight the PCPCC’s Support and Alignment Network (SAN), part of the federal Transforming Clinical Practice Initiative (TCPI) grants awarded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in late September. The event offers several opportunities to learn more about the PCPCC’s SAN grant, including a dedicated breakout session and a special reception where attendees can collaborate and network with TCPI grantees, subcontractors, and clinicians from primary care practices nationwide.
