Maureen Pike

Maureen Pike, BSN, RN, MPH received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Kent State University in Kent, OH and worked as a coronary and medical intensive care nurse before completing a Master of Public Health degree at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore, MD. While at Johns Hopkins, she served as a health policy intern at the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, performed an analysis of Maryland’s Clean Indoor Air Act (“smoking ban”) implementation process, lead a health service project in New Orleans, and assisted in built environment research. In 2008, she joined the team developing and implementing a health care access program for a low-income, uninsured population at Healthy Howard, Inc. in Columbia, MD, first serving as Lead Health Coach and later as the Director of the Health Plan and Special Projects. While at Healthy Howard, she maintained a provider network and oversaw health coaching and care coordination services delivered through a patient-centered medical home model. She also developed organizational projects including post-release health care access services for jail inmates, prenatal care coordination for undocumented Hispanic women, and provider education on childhood obesity prevention. She was an active member of the Howard County, MD Local Health Improvement Coalition and taught undergraduate nutrition and graduate health coaching courses at local institutions. In 2013, Maureen joined YMCA of the USA as the Tertiary Chronic Disease Prevention Programs Specialist, where she facilitates implementation of evidence-based chronic disease prevention programs at YMCAs across the country.
