Howard Straker, PA-C, EdD, MPH, is a faculty member at George Washington University, where he directs the joint degree PA/MPH program and teaches in both the School of Medicine & Health Sciences and the Milken Institute School of Public Health. His teaching centers on preparing clinicians and public health practitioners to work in underserved communities, with courses on health disparities and health equity, community-oriented primary care, and community engagement. As a PA and public health practitioner, he has practiced in underserved communities in New York, Alaska, North Carolina, and Maryland.
Dr. Straker currently serves as president of the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA), which represents all 253 PA programs across the United States. In his leadership role, he focuses on diversity, equity and inclusion within the PA profession, as well as leveraging technology in health professions education.
