PCPCC Announces New Board Chair and Members

February 28, 2017 (WASHINGTON, DC) —The Patient-Centered Primary Care Collaborative (PCPCC), one of the largest primary care advocacy organizations in the country, has announced the appointment of Jill Rubin Hummel, JD, President & General Manager, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of Connecticut, as Chair of the PCPCC Board of Directors. Hummel has been a member of the Board of Directors for more than three years and most recently served as Chair Elect. She replaces Douglas Henley, Executive Vice President & CEO, American Academy of Family Physicians, who now serves as the Immediate Past Board Chair. Hummel will preside over the 14-member Board.

The PCPCC also welcomed four new Board members (profiles below):

• Linda Goler Blount, MPH, President & CEO, Black Women's Health Imperative;
• Sean Hogan, MBA, General Manager, IBM Healthcare and Life Sciences;
• Susan H. McDaniel, PhD, Dr. Laurie Sands Distinguished Professor of Families & Health; Director, Institute for the Family, Department of Psychiatry; Associate Chair, Department of Family Medicine, University of Rochester Medical Center; and
• Darilyn V. Moyer, MD, FACP, Executive Vice President & CEO, American College of Physicians.

Jill Rubin Hummel, JD

Hummel is responsible for the management of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s local group and individual business, including sales, account management, provider relations and contracting, underwriting and product delivery, as well as executing tenets of the Affordable Care Act and maintaining strong customer relationships. In addition, she is responsible for the development of Anthem’s long-term strategic direction and collaborating with local and state elected officials and thought leaders to improve the health of Connecticut residents. In addition to serving on the PCPCC Board, she also serves on the board of the Governor’s Prevention Partnership in Connecticut.  She started her professional career as a practicing attorney specializing in health care law, after receiving her law degree from Washington University and her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Rochester.

Linda Goler Blount, MPH

As President & CEO of the Black Women’s Health Imperative, Blount oversees the strategic direction for the Imperative and is responsible for moving the organization forward in its mission to achieve health equity, as well as reproductive justice for Black women. Previously, Blount served as the first‐ever national vice president of health disparities at the American Cancer Society. There, she was responsible for providing strategic vision and leadership to the Society and its 12 geographic divisions to reduce cancer incidence and mortality among underserved populations and to develop a nationwide health equity policy. Blount earned her Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of Michigan.

Sean Hogan, MBA

Hogan has global responsibility for IBM’s business serving IBM’s healthcare and life sciences clients. His responsibilities include setting business and strategic direction, market prioritization, investment decisions and operations. Throughout his professional career, Sean has focused on business strategy, innovation and growth – particularly growth that is predicated on business model transformation and advanced technology. Before assuming his current position, he held several executive responsibilities within IBM’s Healthcare & Life Sciences business and led a strategic services unit in Global Business Services. Sean entered IBM through the acquisition of Mainspring, a publicly traded strategic services organization where he was a member of the management team. He earned his MBA from Harvard Business School and his Engineering and undergraduate degrees from Dartmouth College/Thayer School of Engineering.

Susan H. McDaniel, PhD

McDaniel is the Dr. Laurie Sands Distinguished Professor of Families & Health, Director of the Institute for the Family in the Department of Psychiatry, and Vice Chair of the Department of Family Medicine at the University of Rochester Medical Center, where she has been since beginning her career in 1980. Her special areas of interest are behavioral/mental health in primary care, and family dynamics and genetic conditions. She is a frequent speaker at meetings of both health and mental health professionals, the author of more than 80 journal articles and 15 books. Dr. McDaniel is the 2017 Past President of the American Psychological Association.

Darilyn V. Moyer, MD, FACP

Dr. Moyer is the Executive Vice President and Chief Executive Officer of the American College of Physicians, the largest physician specialty society and second largest medical organization in the United States. ACP members include 148,000 internal medicine physicians (internists), related subspecialists, and medical students. Dr. Moyer’s research and scholarly activity interests and presentations have been in the areas of medical education, high-value care, patient safety, professionalism and digital media, and HIV/infectious diseases. She received her bachelor’s degree in the Biological Basis of Behavior, Biology and Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania and attended medical school at Temple University School of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine residency at Temple University Hospital and served as a Chief Resident/Clinical Instructor of Medicine.
