The Integrated Health Psychology Training Program provides generalist clinical psychology professional training with the goal of developing a trainee’s competence in providing psychological services within an integrated community health setting.Best described as a practitioner-scholar training program, this program prepares trainees with advanced training and skills for best practices in clinical psychology, in the context of integrated health care settings.

Trainees are instructed and supervised in the biopsychosocial model (Engel, 1980) with a focus on evidence-based practice and research in behavioral medicine. Interdisciplinary teamwork, cultural competency, ethics, and professionalism are emphasized throughout the training. Specific activities are linked to each level of training, and competencies for each level of training are graded in complexity throughout the year.
This program is embedded within the Contra Costa Health System (CCHS). CCHS is a comprehensive county health system that meets the needs of county residents in a variety of ways. The Contra Costa Health Plan (CCHP) now serves over 100,000 people in Contra Costa County and continues to be at the forefront of offering comprehensive, quality health coverage. CCHP members choose from an extensive network of County operated Health Centers, the Regional Medical Center in Martinez (CCRMC) or the plan's Community Physicians Network of private doctors and community hospitals. CCHP was the first federally qualified, state licensed, county sponsored HMO in the United States.
The internship program functions as a captive site for Wright Institute students and is currently conducting a self-study through the Commission on Accreditation, with the goal of becoming an APA accredited exclusively affiliated internship for the 2014-15 training year.
