On Thursday, May 4, PCC Director of Policy Larry McNeely joined U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) leaders and mental health stakeholders for a summit on solutions to the nation’s mental health and substance use challenges. HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra announced www.findsupport.gov, a new resource that helps people get support for mental health, drug, and alcohol-related challenges.

As America observes Mental Health Month, this important resource, along with 988 and www.findtreatment.gov, need to be at the fingertips of all people to get the care they need. HHS and PCC encourage healthcare organizations to share these resources with their networks and use the hashtag #StrengthenMentalHealth on social media to raise awareness.

Primary care plays a critical role in supporting mental health, as primary care physicians are a vital partner throughout a person’s behavioral health journey.

PCC and the Better Health – NOW campaign are calling on policymakers to invest in our nation’s primary care so practices can best serve the needs of patients and communities grappling with the mental health and addiction crisis.
