January Webinar: Strengthening Trust and Equity in Primary Care
This webinar focused on the concepts of 'trust' and 'equity' and how the two are closely linked in health care. Speakers discussed the importance of building trust in working to address and eliminate health disparities.

- Daniel Wolfson: Executive Vice President and COO of the ABIM Foundation, which launched an initiative called “Trust in Health Care” in 2018.
- Dr. Evelyn Figueroa: Program Director of the Family Medicine Residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine and founded the UI Health Pilsen Food Pantry.
- Dr. Dominic Mack: Professor of Family Medicine at Morehouse School of Medicine and Director of the Morehouse’s National Center for Primary Care.
Daniel B. Wolfson is Executive Vice President and COO of the ABIM Foundation. Previously, Mr. Wolfson served for nearly two decades as the founding president and CEO of the Alliance of Community Health Plans (formerly The HMO Group), the nation’s leading association of not-for-profit and provider-sponsored health plans. During his tenure, Mr. Wolfson earned national recognition for spearheading the development of the Health Plan Employer Data and Information Set (HEDIS™), convening the RxHealthValue coalition to provide independent information on the pharmaceutical industry, and co-sponsoring with the American College of Physicians the journal Effective Clinical Practice. read more
Director of the National Center for Primary Care, Morehouse School of Medicine
Dominic Mack, M.D., M.B.A currently serves as director of the Morehouse School of Medicine’s National Center for Primary Care (NCPC), the nation’s first congressionally sanctioned center to develop programs that strengthen the primary care system for health equity and sustainability. Dr. Mack, a family physician is a longtime proponent of electronic health records. read more
Director, UI Health Pilsen Food Pantry, University of Illinois at Chicago
Dr. Evelyn Figueroa is a Professor, UIC Family Medicine Residency Program Director, and the Director of the UI Health Pilsen Food Pantry at the University of Illinois at Chicago. In 1999, Dr. Figueroa earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and subsequently completed her residency training in Family Medicine at Lutheran General Hospital. In 2007, Dr. Figueroa completed the UIC Scholars for Teaching Excellence Faculty Fellowship. She is board certified in family medicine and focuses her primary care practice in vulnerable populations work, such as reproductive justice, LGBTQIA* health, substance use disorders, maternity care, and the care of children.

Associate Professor, Department of Family Medicine and Community Health (DFMCH) at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health
Jennifer Edgoose completed her MD, MPH from Columbia University and her family medicine residency at the University of Washington. She then practiced full-spectrum family medicine for over ten years at Community Health Care, a federally qualified health center in Tacoma, WA. She is now an associate professor in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health (DFMCH) at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health (UWSMPH) and focuses her attention on care of vulnerable populations and strategies to promote health equity and community engagement. She serves as the Director of the DFMCH Office of Community Health; Chair of the DFMCH Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee; and Director of the UWSMPH Diversity and Inclusion Advocates program. read more
