Tawandaa Austin is a Lead Community Health Worker and Product Specialist at the Penn Center for Community Health Workers. In her role, Tawandaa has worked with more than 600 patients and co-led resident training on social justice. Tawandaa is also the Founder and CEO of Moms Like Me, a nonprofit aimed at supporting and empowering working-class mothers and their families. Tawandaa completed her master's degree in human services at Lincoln University and began her doctoral degree in Human Service and Organizational Management and Leadership at Capella University in 2022. Tawandaa is a member of the National Leadership Society (Sigma Alpha Pi) and (Pi Gamma Mu) Graduate Degree Chapter for academic excellence and is a recipient of the 2022 Penn Medicine at Home CHW Excellence Award and the 2022 Penn Injury Science Center grant.
