2018 Annual Symposium New Discoveries in the Treatment of Kidney Disease Where are We Heading?

Activity Overview

This half-day symposium will focus on new discoveries in the treatment of kidney disease and is directed to professionals in the Greater New York metropolitan area. Featuring nationally recognized faculty, the Symposium will cover a variety of topics such as diagnosis management and treatment of hyperkalemia, hyperphosphatemia, fluid overload, kidney transplant and hypertension during pregnancy.

Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the cause of hyperkalemia in CKD patients and develop treatment options
  • Review current research and clinical findings in the pathophysiology of membranous nephropathy
  • Develop skills in identifying diagnosing, and treating of pregnant patients with CKD
  • Discuss approaches to expanding the transplant donor pool and it's challenges
  • Describe the prevalence and pathophysiology of AKI and the use of diuresis versus ultrafiltration in cardiorenal patients
  • Discuss the relationship between phosphorus and the development of hyperphosphatemia with emphasis on ways to optimize phosphate balance
