Ziva is a consultant, a recovering academic, writer and systems geek. She spent a decade in community-lead education in the bleeding disorder community, before doing a favor for her pediatrician, by joining one of Cambridge Health Alliance’s first multidisciplinary primary care improvement teams, as a parent partner. Today, she is CHA’s Patient Lead, working with Ambulatory Performance Improvement leadership on partnership with patients and families in health and improvement, assessing opportunities to create effective, efficient person-centered care in an integrated delivery system for diverse, underserved communities. She coordinates CHA’s nationally recognized patient partnership program, supporting the patients and family members serving on CHA’s primary care practice improvement teams providing training, mentoring and strategies for the work of system redesign and quality improvement in an atmosphere of collaborative learning.
Ziva is also faculty at the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, for the RWJF funded SCALE grant. She has consulted for Harvard Medical School’s Center for Primary Care, Family Voices, and others. She is the author of a number of books and many articles. Her most recent publication is a chapter in Person-Focused Health Care Management: A Foundational Guide for Health Care Management, co-authored with Kathryn Phillips and Jonathan R. Sugarman (Springer December 2016).
