Randall Brown is an expert in research design and health care policy. Brown is nationally known for his evaluations of programs that are designed to manage disease and coordinate care for Medicare beneficiaries, as well as his studies of long-term care and Medicare managed care. Brown was the senior author of a paper on care coordination, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, which was awarded Best Paper in 2009 by both AcademyHealth and the National Institute for Health Care Management. He is currently leading two major evaluations for the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services—the evaluation of the Comprehensive Primary Care Initiative, a program to improve primary care; and the evaluation of the Health Care Innovation Awards, Round 2. He has a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Wisconsin.
