Consumer advocate and co-founder, X4 Health
Christine Bechtel is a longtime consumer advocate and the co-founder of X4 Health, a purpose-driven organization that uses social impact design to solve problems that matter. 3rd Conversation is one of X4’s programs. Christine has been involved with PCC since its earliest days, having co-chaired a number of PCMH-related working groups. She helped facilitate the development of the Shared Principles of Primary Care across 300 stakeholders on behalf of the PCC. She also spent 18 months working with a primary care practice where she helped its leaders establish a culture of patient- and family-centered care and professional satisfaction. Christine’s previous positions include leadership roles at the National Partnership for Women & Families, the eHealth Initiative, the American Health Quality Association, and AARP.

President, Milbank Memorial Fund
Christopher Koller is president of the Milbank Memorial Fund. The Fund is a 114 year operating foundation that improves population health by connecting leaders with the best information and experience. Before joining the Fund, he served the state of Rhode Island as the country’s first health insurance commissioner, an appointment he held from March of 2005 through June of 2013. Under Mr. Koller’s leadership, the RI Office of the Health Insurance Commissioner was nationally recognized for its rate review process and its efforts to use insurance regulation to promote payment reform, primary care revitalization, and delivery system transformation. Executive Vice President & Chief Executive Officer, American Academy of Family Physicians
Douglas Henley, MD, FAAFP is Chair of PCPCC's Board and Executive Vice President and CEO of the American Academy of Family Physicians, which represents more than 120,000 physicians and medical students nationwide. Prior to AAFP, Dr. Henley was in private practice for 20 years in his hometown of Hope Mills, NC. He is a founding member of the Ambulatory Care Quality Alliance Steering Committee and serves on the steering committee of the Center for Payment Reform. Henley served as a commissioner on the American Health Information Community. In this capacity he served as co-chair of the Personalized Healthcare Workgroup. President and Board Chair, Family Medicine for America's Health
Dr. Glen Stream, a family physician practicing in La Quinta, California, is past president of the American Academy of Family Physicians. He serves as the President and Board Chair of Family Medicine for America’s Health. Dr. Stream attended the University of Washington, Seattle, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in microbiology. He earned his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle and completed his family medicine residency at the Swedish Hospital Family Medicine Residency program, also in Seattle. Julie Schilz leads Mathematica's efforts in private sector health offerings and business development. Schilz brings considerable executive experience in the private sector and clinical expertise. In particular, Schilz has a broad knowledge base of care management, quality improvement, value-based reimbursement programs, and medical home initiatives, including those led by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Innovation. read more
Senior Natural Scientist; Director, Boston Office, RAND
Mark Friedberg is a senior natural scientist at the RAND Corporation and director of its Boston office. He is practice lead in payment models and health care delivery for RAND Health Advisory Services and a practicing general internist. His research focuses on performance improvement by health care providers, innovations in primary care, and methods for measuring health system quality and efficiency. Dr. Friedberg has developed and fielded surveys of patients, physicians, medical group leaders, and other clinical staff. His clinical work has included ambulatory primary care and hospital-based internal medicine, and he is an assistant professor of medicine, part-time, at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Paul Fronstin is Director of the Health Research and Education Program at the Employee Benefit Research Institute (EBRI), a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan organization committed to original public policy research and education on economic security and employee benefits. Senior Advisor in the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation, Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services
Pauline Lapin is the Director for the Seamless Care Models Group (SCMG) in the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Pauline oversees and provides guidance in the development and implementation of innovative payment and delivery models related to advanced primary care and accountable care organizations, namely the Comprehensive Primary Care (CPC) and CPC Plus initiatives, the Pioneer ACO and Next Generation ACO Models, and the Comprehensive ESRD Care initiative. Her group also manages Health Care Innovation Awards related to primary care redesign, “hot-spotting,” and ACO-like models. read more
Institute Fellow, Urban Institute
Robert Berenson joined the Urban Institute as an Institute fellow in 2003. In this position he conducts research and provides policy analysis primarily on health care delivery issues, particularly related to Medicare payment policy, pricing power in commercial insurance markets, and new forms of health delivery based on reinvigorated primary care practices.
In 2012, Berenson completed a three-year term on the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission, the last two years as vice chair. From 1998 to 2000, he was in charge of Medicare payment policy and private health plan contracting in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. Previously, he served as an assistant director of the White House Domestic Policy Staff under President Carter. read more

The PCPCC Executive Member Annual Meeting provides an exclusive opportunity to engage with health care leaders from across the country who are working to develop innovative strategies and partnerships to transform how we deliver primary care services in partnership with patients and families. During this closed-door meeting, executive members can engage in meaningful dialogue with representatives from federal agencies on how to strengthen programs supporting primary care and identify solutions to ongoing challenges associated with new models of care. This meeting serves as a forum where executive members receive the inside scoop on current initiatives, and they also have the opportunity to provide additional information on investments their organizations are making in advanced primary care and health care improvement.
