As the incredible work of the Office of the National Coordinator’s (ONC) national Beacon Community Program wraps up this fall, we look forward to welcoming Janhavi Kirtane from the ONC, and representatives from Beacon communities around the country to share their lessons learned and how their achievements will shape future directions and community collaborations. The presentation will also include provide an overview of their new learning guide that distills the experiences and lessons learned from Beacon Communities, such as goal-setting, community engagement, technology investments, and quality measurement.

Moderator: Janhavi M. Kirtane Fritz, MBA, is the Acting Director for the Beacon Community Program at the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT in the Department of Health and Human Services.  She provides over all leadership for the program and supports execution, innovation and learning collaborative efforts related to clinical interventions. She also leads national efforts to share program-wide lessons learned, and supports Beacon Community efforts to drive local adoption of promising IT-enabled interventions, including collaboration with the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovations.

Beacon Speaker #1: Lacey A. Hart, MBA, PMP® Mayo Clinic; Director for the Center for the Science of Health Care Delivery - Project Mangemement Office. Ms. Hart is a Project Management Institute certified project manager with a Masters in Business Administration. She directs a large portfolio of research programs including the HHS/Office of the National Coordinator for Healthcare IT (ONC) Strategic health IT Advanced Research Projects (SHARP) on Secondary EHR Data Use and the Beacon grant for Southeast Minnesota in addition to a CMMI Health Care Innovation Award, the NIH/NHGRI (eMERGE) and National Cancer Institute (NCI) caBIG projects.

Beacon Speaker #2: Trudi Matthews is Director of Policy and Business Development with HealthBridge in Cincinnati, Ohio.  HealthBridge is a not-for-profit corporation that supports health information technology (HIT) adoption, health information exchange (HIE), and innovative use of information for improved health care outcomes. For well over a decade, HealthBridge has been recognized as one of the nation’s largest, most advanced, and most financially sustainable health information exchanges (HIE).
